Energy usage map
This site is built in Ruby on Rails, sitting on top of a MySQL database. The map is drawn with SVG, and all of the updating and coloring and whatnot is driven by JavaScript (or ECMAScript if you prefer), using a technique called AJAX. The JavaScript coding was made a whole lot easier by using the Prototype JavaScript Framework. The page layout uses the Blueprint CSS Framework.
